Goresbrook 3's returned to the home comforts of the Annexe with a comfortable win against Fives and Heronians 4's
Owen Elsom opted to bowl having won the toss and Ali Raza shone with a fine 10 over spell of fast left arm bowling against which the visitors struggled to score and was rewarded with a brace.
Siraj Zafar and Arayaman Parida both took a wicket and braces for Owen Elsom and Mafi Choudhury put the visitors under immense pressure but it was the returning Raza who stole the show with 2 further wickets in 11 balls to finish off the tail with the total on 149.
Billy Parnell excelled in an enforced residency behind the sticks with 4 catches and the whole team fielded excellently especially colts Ben Atkins, Jack Gibson and Will Preston on his debut.
Brook lost Parnell and Shakeel Akhtar before the score hit 30 but the evergreen Andy Livett and Parida, in his first game after sitting his GCSE exams, soon took the game by the scruff of the neck and put on a partnership of 113 to take Brook to the cusp of victory during which Parida reached his maiden half century in 58 balls, going on to score 70 with 12 boundaries.
Livett was himself left stranded on 49 when 4 byes took Brook past the required 150 with more than 10 overs to spare.
Fives played the game in the right spirit throughout and contributed fully to a good game of cricket.
The 3's are home again next week against South Woodford4's.
