Billy Parnell’s third string picked up their first win of the season after a fine performance at South Woodham Ferrers. In-form Sam Wood crashed 73 and his partnership with skipper Parnell (43) was the key for Brook for whom young Ted Ivory also caught the eye with a solid 21 to open the innings as Brook racked up 215-7.
The Goresbrook bowling also impressed as Danny Gillham Snr, somewhat unfortunately dropped from 2’s, had a point to prove with the new ball taking 3-27 and then slow left armer Bobby Granger picked up 2-5 and captain Parnell completed an excellent all-round performance with 4-12 as South Woodham were skittled for 79.
