This eagerly awaited top of the table clash at the MABA was rained off late in Goresbrook's innings just as the match was coming alive.
Upon winning the toss the visitors inserted Goresbrook on a better looking MABA wicket but again the openers found it tough with last weeks hero Matt Jones departing fourth ball for no score. Alfie Boland was unable to find his 4s and U15s form as he departed for 3 before Atif Ali and Keith Friend steadied the ship.
Ali scored a quickfire 21 before being adjudged lbw. Andrew Livett joined the in form Friend and the pair put on 27 before the young Baddow spinner Haley caught him off his own bowling. Joe Wilkinson was next in following his fine half century for the fours last week against ex county pace bowlers and continued his fine form with a rapid 27 from just 50 balls before holing out in cow corner.
Darren Robinson joined Friend who was how finding his rhythm and the pair looked in great form as they picked up the run rate. Robbo hit 21 from just 19 balls before the rain came leaving Friend unbeaten on 36 at the other end.
With the wicket under 2 inches of water an early tea was taken, courtesy of Jo's kitchen who cater for all occasions and the hot potatoes and salad bowl were well received along with the substantial portion of fine chicken nuggets, before the captains shook hands on a draw.
