Goresbrook captain, Bradley Winsley won the toss and elected to bat first at The May and Bakers Annex Ground on Saturday. After losing Dave Leadbeater (3) and Keith Friend (9) during the early exchanges, ‘Brook were boosted by a superb 3rd wicket partnership of 154 between the in-form pairing of Craig Ivey and Dunston Alfred. Ivey was in magnificent form with the bat finding the rope sixteen times with a plethora of cuts, pulls and drives before closing on an unbeaten 128. Alfred provided the perfect foil lashing 3 fours and 2 maximums on his way to an undefeated 60 steering the hosts to a daunting 247 for 2 from their 45 over entitlement.
After tea, the Dagenham outfit were firmly in the driving seat as experienced campaigner Martin Rooke produced a three wicket haul to stunt the hosts advances. Danny Gillham (Snr) bagged a brace of victims whilst Bradley Winsley, Harry Jackson, Dominic Gurden and star man Ivey each claimed a scalp before rain and then bad light took it’s toll, curtailing proceedings with ‘Brook the winners on a faster scoring.
