Tennyson skipper Sandeep Patel won the toss and invited Goresbrook to bat first at May & Bakers Annex Ground on Saturday afternoon. Openers Craig Ivey (28) and Atif Ali (18) gave the hosts an early fillip and Keith Friend (23), Bradley Winsley (14) and Aaron Scott (12) all fell when threatening to compile big knocks. Shoulik Goshal and Terry Ransome bagged a brace of scalps apiece but Martin Rooke (12) and Paul Lowe (14 not) continued the momentum as all the hosts’ first seven batsmen recorded double figures. Teenager Charlie Thompson (6 not) caught the eye late on as ‘Brook closed on 184 for 7 from their allotted 45 overs.
After tea, Mark Watson provided the backbone of Tennyson’s reply with a dogged unbeaten 86 which included a dozen boundaries. A wicket apiece from Paul Atkins and captain Winsley were the only hiccups for the visitors as Goshal 30 and an undefeated 15 from Mohammed saw them through to an 8 wicket victory with 4 overs to spare
