‘Brook skipper Jo Wilkinson lost the toss and Goresbrook’s 3rd string were invited to bat at Fairlop on Saturday. The visitors got off to the worst possible start when Nick Read was bowled by Tiff from the first ball of the innings. ‘Brook were in no mood to throw in the towel as solid contributions from captain Wilkinson (30), Paul Lowe (29) and Craig Ivey (28) steered them into the ascendancy despite Tiff’s haul of 3 for 19 with the ball. Martin Rooke marshalled the middle order with an excellent unbeaten 26 receiving good support from Atif Ali (15) and Ben Irving (13), enabling the visitors to post 184 for 8 from their allotted 45 overs.
After tea, Craig Ivey bowled host skipper Keith Daniel for a golden duck, but Bennett (19) and McCarthy (12) dug in to restore some stability to the home batting. Ivey and Lee Wilkinson returned the identical analysis of 3 for 22 to boost the Dagenham outfit. Perckessey struck an entertaining 34 but a scalp apiece for Joe Barwick and Atif Ali saw the visitors through to a comfortable 66 run victory.
