Tennyson 1's proved too strong for ‘Brook’s 3rd string at the M & B Annex Ground on Saturday with Mohammed (70) and Syed (60) in excellent nick on a good track as the visitors amassed 273 for 6 from their allotted 45 overs. The hosts’ attack toiled bravely in the face of some aggressive stroke-play with Joe Barwick (2 for 49) and Danny Gilham Snr (2 for 70) bagging a brace of scalps apiece, supported by Lee Wilkinson and Tilly Wijesuriya who each claimed a wicket to secure three valuable bowling points.
After the interval, Sohail (4 for 10) enjoyed early success with the ball but Nick Read (20) and skipper Jo Wilkinson (17) produced entertaining cameo roles. Martin Rooke provided the middle order impetus compiling an entertaining unbeaten 25 but was unable to prevent his side from slipping to a 144 run reversal.
