Goresbrook’s third Eleven eased to a five wicket success in this entertaining game at M & B Annex Ground on Saturday. After being invited to bat by Goresbrook skipper Jo Wilkinson, ‘Stow saw a number of batsmen threaten to make big scores but falter when in double figures. Atif Rabaan top scored for the visitors with 24 whilst Hamza Ali added 16. Otif Wais (15), Qaasim Hussain (14) and Daryl Kennedy (10) all made useful contributions but with Goresbrook’s attack in fine fettle runs were at a premium. Bradley Winsley was the pick of the home bowlers with the excellent return of 4 for 30 receiving staunch support in the form of 15 year old Ben Irving (3 for 35) and Atif Ali (2 for 24) as Walthamstow were whittled out for a disappointing 107.
After tea, Atif Rabaani (4 for 17) tore into ‘Brook’s early order reducing the host to 19 for 4. Opener, Paul Lowe held firm with 18 before being joined by Jo Wilkinson who played a captain’s innings compiling an unbeaten 39. Ben Irving joined his skipper at the crease and saw his side over the winning line with 5 not out to secure the spoils for the Dagenham outfit.
