Tennyson I v Goresbrook III - Essex County Cricket League - Div 2

A strong Tennyson first eleven were always in control of this entertaining game at Clayhall Park. Opener Paul Lewis was in majestic mood with the willow as he fashioned a superb 91 giving his side the upper hand. Teenager Ryan Paul returned 3 for 49 and two wickets apiece from Atif Ali and Bradley Winsley ensured the hosts were made to battle in the searing heat as Tennyson closed on 230 for 7 from their allotted 45 overs.

After tea, Nick Read struck a marvellous half ton on his return to the fray. Fellow opener Craig Irving compiled an excellent 36 as 'Brook raced to 77 for 1. Double figures from Atif Ali (18), Bradley Winsley (14) and Riaz Khan (10) kept the scoreboard ticking along but a nap hand from Manzur (5 for 21) put paid to the visitors resistance as they went down by the margin of 26 runs.
