Aaron tons up again as 2s beat Horndon
Aaron Scott stroked a second successive century to give Brook 2nds a comfortable win over bottom side Horndon at the M&B Club.
Daryl Forwards men had plenty to do with the bat after Horndon put together a respectable 225-9 on a fine wicket, the skipper being the pick of the bowling with 2-17 from his 9 overs, backed up with good support from Billy Parnell (2-40) and Pawan Singh (2-32) as Horndon had several batsmen get a start, but nobody who could kick on past 50.
The Brook reply was stuttering somewhat at 62-3, but a big partnership between Scott (115*) and Parnell (60) took Goresbrook to the brink of victory before Scott saw the side home in tandem with Ted Ivory.
Scott’s superb knock was Bairstow-esque in many ways, not least in backing up his typically petulant response to not being selected for the 1s after a couple of scores and a week off not attending a festival and with his weight of runs now demanding elevation, the lanky right hander has been elevated to the 1st XI for the visit of Leigh on Saturday along with this skipper.
Darren Ivory is therefore in charge this week as the 2s visit Leigh’s 2nd string, who also top the table.
