Matt Friend’s 2nd XI were brushed aside by Bentley as their temperamental batting line-up misfired once again. Only Danny Gillham jnr (39) and Stuart Greaves (62) spent any time in the middle as Brook squandered a promising position at 112-4 to slump to 167 all out, Friend with 21 being the only batsman from number 6 down to reach double figures.
The Bentley response was anchored by a fine 72 from Ollie Gordon, as along with Green (49*) Bentley moved to the brink of victory before a couple of late wickets allowed the Goats a bowling bonus point, Bentley eventually prevailing in the 36th over by 7 wickets, Billy Smith with 1 for 23 being the pick of a poor bowling performance which leaves Brook in the relegation places in advance of a derby against high-flying Havering Atte Bower 1s on Saturday.
