Unbeaten Nelson for lanky opener

The 2's produced their most convincing performance this season to move into mid-table in Division Two, as they piled on the runs at Little Waltham's quaint 'The Street' ground.

Star of the show was Aaron Scott who hit a superb 111* from 134 balls first playing the straight man role as Ben Irving carved out a typically aggressive 54 from 38 balls in an 86 run opening stand and then continuing with the straight man role, as a succession of middle order batsmen took the opportunity to flog a tiring attack.

Danny Gillham (32 from 30), Jordan Harris (34 from 29) and Stuart Greaves (38 from 35) all supported the by this time visibly tiring Scott, the big legged batsman breaking out of his season long slump to carry his bat, reaching his ton shortly before the innings closed on 289-5.

On a warm afternoon skipper Matt Friend took the opportunity to bowl his seamers in short spells, Daryl Forward and Saun Ross picking up early wickets. Once the shine was off the ball it was over to the spinners and Brad 'the Cat' Winsley and Billy 'the Sloth' Smith ran through the Little Waltham batting, Smith's fine form of the previous few weeks finally picking up the results he deserved with 5 for 17 from 6 overs and the Cat, as yet unaware that his prime time rival Lol Walsh was back in the wickets in the 3's, purchased 3 more scalps for 32 runs as the 2's were in the car home before 30 overs had been bowled.

A fine couple of weeks for the 2's with the batting stabilised with the return of a few key players, the bowling looking varied and threatening and the fielding having moved up a notch led by Pretzel.

They face a challenge this week against Bentley 2's with Scott, Ivey and Ross all called up by the 1's, but in Linvoy Walsh, Mad Frankie Boland and Mark Leslie Patrick Bird, they have men who can make an immediate impact.
