The 2's batting woes continued under stand in captain Lawrence Walsh at picturesque Terling, as they struggled to 133 all out on a two paced wicket with only Danny Gillham jnr (29) and Shaun Ross (26*) making much impression, despite Puncher, Gaymer and Jones all getting starts. The pitch was undoubtedly difficult, with a number of players being caught off leading edges or false shots as the ball stopped in the pitch, but in a game where another 30 runs would have made things very interesting, it was disappointing that nobody could go on to play a more significant innings and that we didn't bat the overs out, Shaun being stranded after a mix-up that saw Billy Smith runout without facing. Wilshire with 5-32 wasn't the pick of the Terling bowlers, his colleague Wager bowled an excellent 10 over spell for just 9 runs, but with the pressure having built up he varied his pace intelligently to entice the batsmen to hit the ball in the air to fielders.
The hosts were forced to bat into the 42nd over to overhaul the Brook total, as Billy Smith & Richie Williams combined to bowl 20 overs for 33, but with only Ross (2-22) providing much of a wicket taking threat, opener Wilding was able to plant his foot down the pitch, surviving a few lbw shouts and latch onto the bad ball, his innings of 52* allowing the hosts to throw the bat towards the end, to get home by 6 wickets with 4 overs to spare.
