Second's Hopes Go West

Goresbrook’s second string slumped to a four wicket reversal at The Rolls on Saturday. The visitors were rocked when captain Rohit Sharma and Siraj Zafar were sent back to the hutch without troubling the scorer. Mohammed Imran (33) and Manish Battan (30) restored some stability to the ranks and late cameos from Lovelin Mostra (22) and Karnail Kalyan (17) enabled ‘Brook to recover to 128 all out. Shaheer Ashraf was the pick of the home attack with 3 for 19.

After tea, Ranjeet Godihanya fired an early two wicket salvo to lift the visitors hopes but a steady middle order revival led by Mohammad Zahour (32) and Rashid Muhammad who finished unbeaten on 31 saw West Essex home to a comfortable four wicket victory.
