Isaac Burgess’ 76 was bettered by centurion Mohammad Aqueel who was unbeaten on 112, allowing the hosts to close on a mammoth 283 for 4 from their allotted 50 overs. Lee Jones (2 for 34) was the pick of the visiting attack whilst Manish Battan and Abdullah Ahmed claimed a solitary victim apiece as Goresbrook toiled in the field.
After tea, George Godfrey (46) gave the Dagenham outfit a springboard for their reply receiving support from fellow opener Jones (19). Abdullah Ahmed (26) and Karamat Ali (20) picked up the tempo in the middle order and Battan with a superb half ton and teenager Pawanpreet Singh who was unbeaten on 36, blazed the trail in search of victory. Sam Hodgson (5 for 65) and Sandeep Muraleedharan (3 for 70) kept the pendulum swinging as ‘Brook ran out of batsmen, falling 42 runs short of their target.
