Goresbrook’s second string slumped to a six wicket defeat at M & B Sports Ground on Saturday. Home skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and his side suffered the worst possible start when Asghar Ali was dismissed with the first ball of the match. Skipper Sharma (31) and teenager Arayaman Parida (33) steadied the ship followed by a quick-fire 39 from Karnal Kalyan. Eight of the Home batsmen made double figures lifting ‘Brook to a challenging 231 all out.
After tea, Kalyan struck early with the ball but ‘Town appeared to be content with batting out for a draw. After a drinks break Ben Tyne and Tom Wilcox decided that attack was the best form of defence. Wilcox clubbed 5 boundaries in an excellent 53 but Tyne proved the hero for the visitors with a superb unbeaten century finding the rope sixteen times and with the support of Taylor Wood (16 not) he led his side home for an impressive six wicket victory.
Goresbrook 2nd 231 all out from 44.4 Overs (9 points) lost to Harlow Town 2nd 233 for 4 from 46.2 Overs (20 points) by 6 wickets
