Goresbrook’s second string produced another hard hitting batting display as both sides contributed to a highly entertaining game at May & Bakers Sports Ground on Saturday. Captain Rohit Sharma continued his good form with another half century paving the way for Lovelin Mostra to join him at the crease. Mostra struck eight fours and eight maximums lifting the last four deliveries of the innings for successive sixes, in doing so going to his second century of the campaign as ‘Brook closed on a mammoth 316 for 2.
After tea, ‘Green made early inroads into their target courtesy of 77 from Choudhury Mahboob and 36 from Ellis Williams. 3 wickets from Karamat Ali propelled the hosts into the ascendancy but brave unbeaten knocks from Shahir Iqbal 37 and Jamal Chaudry 35 almost snatched victory for the visitors. In the end Goresbrook’s tally proved a bridge too far as the Dagenham outfit secured a 12 run success.
