Goresbrook 2’s slumped to a 4th successive defeat at Little Baddow, Lee Ramduth’s men being well beaten after another sub-par batting performance. Although Craig Irving gave Brook a positive start with 45 from 61 balls, wickets tumbled at regular intervals with only Ramduth of the other batsmen passing 20 and Goresbrook were indebted to a 10th wicket partnership of 44 between under 15’s Nirbhay Bist and Tahmid Khondakar to post 174.
That total proved inadequate on Little Waltham’s quick scoring ground and the hosts passed their target in the 24th over for the lost of just 4 wickets against an inexperienced attack. Goresbrook are now only 14 points clear of Rayleigh 2’s for the second relegation spot and will either need to beat Bentley 2’s or rely on Saturday’s opponents Little Waltham, who are still very much in the promotion hunt, beating Rayleigh for Brook to secure Division Two cricket for next season.
