The 2nd v 3rd clash in Division Two, a meeting between the eastern and westernmost sides in the mid-Essex league, was rained off when looking well poised, as Goresbrook recovered from Connor Hayman’s early burst of 4-25 to post 144-5 in the 40th over. Skipper Lee Ramduth, with 75* was the main architect of the recovery, but u15 keeper Danny Gillham also batted with maturity to add 75 for the 5th wicket after Brook were reeling at 28-4.
Brook would have been looking at a target of around 180, which would have been no cakewalk on a damp pitch (although Tillingham chased something similar last year with few problems) but heavy showers eventually rendered the pitch and surrounding areas unplayable leading to points being shared.
Leaders Writtle’s defeat at Terling, where the 2's visit this week, means the draw allowed Tillingham to take over on top of Division Two with Goresbrook hot on their heels 4 points back in 3rd.
