Goresbrook’s second string continued their fine start to the season with a convincing win over Galleywood I in Chelmsford. The Brook innings was an attritional affair with Joe Curley 49 and Keith Friend 50* anchoring a total of 160-9 that occupied the full 45 overs. Friend in particular was forced to hold the innings together as numbers 6-10 departed for a succession of single figure scores.
However the value of Goresbrook’s score became apparent when the Dagenham men bowled as although the hosts started well against the new ball pair Bobby Gaymer and Shaun Ross, the introduction of Shaddai Smith saw Brook take control as he bowled with pace & movement to take 5-25 from 8 overs, effectively winning the game for his side. Skipper Craig Ivey chipped in with 2 late wickets as the hosts were hustled out for 96 to give the 2’s their third successive win.
