Goresbrook 2's 236 for 6 in 45 overs beat Chadwell Heath 1's 106 all out by 130 runs

Goresbrook 2nds skipper Andy Livett won the toss and his decision to bat first was vindicated as his team amassed 236 for 6 from their allotted 45 overs at St Chads Park on Saturday. 16 year old Jack Stead was in superb form with the willow as he found the rope on eight occasions in a sparkling 60. Fellow opener, Bobby Gaymer chipped in with 17 and Mark Bird continued the assault on the Heath attack with an excellent 33. Hattar (3 for 52) did his best to stem the tide but Jo Wilkinson plundered a hard hitting unbeaten 53 which included six boundaries and in tandem with Darren Ivory (37 not) added 98 in an unbroken 7th wicket stand as ‘Brook set the hosts a target of 237.

After tea, Andy Falkingham (23) and Andy Wallace (14) got ‘Heath off to a steady start but teenage bowlers Daryl Forward (3 for 9) and Joe Barwick (3 for 14) made regular inroads into the home batting. Livett introduced himself into the attack and bagged 2 for 0, cementing his reputation as the most ruthless demolisher of tail-enders since Waqar Younis retired, whilst Don Miles offered staunch resistance with a patient 22. Ben Irving and Richard Williamson claimed a wicket apiece as the hosts were whittled out for 106 affording victory to Goresbrook by 130 runs.
