Goresbrook captain, Andy Livett, celebrated his 950th outing for the Club but unfortunately found himself on the losing side at Aldborough Hatch on Saturday. After losing the toss Livett led his side into the field but the visitors were soon in positive mood when Bobby Gaymer (2 for 33) struck early to remove Ali. Gill (30) and Iqbal (26) steadied the hosts nerves and the Motormen accelerated when Jameel (47) and Rajeem (35) occupied the crease in tandem. A victim apiece for Daryl Forward, Shaddai Smith and Joe Barwick lifted the visitors and a two wicket salvo from Craig Ivey was instrumental in arresting Ford’s charge. Livett marked his landmark appearance with a scalp as the hosts closed on 236 all out.
After tea, Goresbrook lost Bobby Gaymer early but Joe Curley struck 8 fours and a maximum in a superb knock of 72 ably supported by Jack Stead who compiled a solid 26 as ‘Brook set about their victory target. Mark Bird (48) and Ben Irving (28) maintained Goresbrook’s run rate with excellent contributions with the willow before skipper Livett’s unbeaten 22 just failed to see the Dagenham outfit home as they lost by 12 runs.
