Goresbrook 2nds powered to 307 for 9 as they put the Hawks attack to the sword at May & Bakers Sports Ground on Saturday. Bobby Gaymer (43) and Craig Irving (40) set the standard with excellent knocks early in the proceedings, paving the way for Jordan Calverley and Afzal Hussain to share in an entertaining 4th wicket partnership of 161. Hussain found the rope 11 times on his way to an impressive 86. Calverley returned to form with aplomb cracking a superb century which included ten boundaries before departing for 103. Orrett was the pick of the visiting attack bagging 3 for 52 but his side were unable to prevent ‘Brook from attaining their mammoth total of 307 from their allotted 45 overs.
After the tea interval, Hawks never got into their stride as all four Goresbrook bowlers enjoyed success with the ball. Daryl Forward claimed two early victims at a cost of 26 whilst Bobby Gaymer shared the new ball returning 1 for 14. Joe Barwick introduced as first change claimed 3 wickets for 22 and with Billy Smith (1 for 1) also on target, the Dagenham outfit eased to a 226 run victory.
