Ford Sports II 21 all out lost to Goresbrook II 22 for 2 by 8 wickets

Fords’ captain, Imran Rafiq, won the toss and elected to bat at May & Baker Sports Ground on Saturday afternoon. Rafiq was soon rueing his decision as the Motormen crashed to 21 all out being a record lowest score for Goresbrook’s opponents in competitive cricket. ‘Brook skipper, Keith Friend adopted a three pronged bowling attack and saw a superb display unfold with the new ball. Paceman Shaun Ross fired a superb 9 over spell which yielded 4 wickets at a cost of only 11 runs. 16 year old Bobby Gaymer produced the impressive analysis of 3 for 2 in an accurate 7 over stint and a beguiling contribution from spinner Billy Smith (3 for 3) reduced the visitors to a paltry 21 all out from 19 overs.

After the interval, the victory target looked a formality but Waqas did his best to raise the visitors’ spirits when removing Joe Curley for 3 before scattering Jo Wilkinson’s timber for a duck. Andy Livett (5 not out) and Richard Williamson (8 not out) ensured there were no more scares for Goresbrook who eased home by 8 wickets with in excess of 38 overs to spare!
