‘Brook’s 2nd eleven slumped to a 77 run defeat against a strong Barking second eleven at The M&B Sports Ground on Saturday. Mitchell (71) and Patel (52) were both in superb form with the willow providing the platform for the visitors’ big tally. Matthew Friend (3 for 26) was the pick of the Goresbrook bowlers receiving good support in the form of Billy Smith (2 for 41) and Daryl Forward and Shaun Ross, who each bagged a scalp, as the home attack toiled in the heat.
After the tea ‘Brook were never up with the required run rate despite Andy Livett’s battling 38. Daryl Forward (19), Keith Friend (14) and Bobby Gaymer (13) were the other home batsmen to record double figures but Sarwar’s haul of 4 for 27 extinguished Goresbrook’s hops of victory as they crashed to 147 all out handing Barking the spoils by 77 runs.
