Looks like Shane Barwick didn’t play this season

Biography

A prolific run scorer and wicket taker in Colts cricket, where he represented the Met board on numerous occasions, Shane started to play 1st XI cricket in the Sunday league in 2011 and then broke into the Saturday 1s in 2012 as a 15 year old.

Shane took 15 wickets at just 13 with his left arm spin and when combined with his all round figures from the first half of the season in the 2s, his 2012 campaign was good enough for him to be awarded young player of the year for the league, following in the footsteps of Israel Ochwo, Andrew Mitcheson, Michael Rooke and Afzal Hussain.

It took slightly longer for Shane's batting to make an impression at 1s level, but he scored 400 runs on his first venture up the order as we retained the ECCL crown in 2013 and now looks at home as an opener in the 1s.

In addition to being voted 1s player of the season in 2013 , Shane led the Matchplay side to Chelmsford with a succession of fine all-round performances and on the back of both feats was named Essex Recreational Player of the season for that year.

Little Known Fact: Shane initially learned to play cricket by watching his Dad play, hence he bats and bowls left handed, the mirror image of old man Scott.

Fortunately he was allowed to watch cricket on TV from the age of 7 so he was able to evolve from bowling 3 slower balls an over and hitting everything in the V before he started to play competitively.
