Goresbrook CC League XI Selection Guidelines 

The selection panel shall consist of those members elected at the AGM preceeding the season. For 2010 this is Kurt Whisker, Scott Barwick, Simon Walker, Keith Maund and Andy Livett.

To be eligible for selection members must be signed off by the Treasurer as having paid their annual subscription (pro-rata for mid-season joiners).

After careful consideration the Club Committee has decided that no player eligible for under 13 cricket shall be selected in the Saturday League 1st, 2nd or 3rd XIs.

Players should advise a member of the panel of their availability for the forthcoming weekend not later than 6pm on the Wednesday preceeding the game.

No player shall be selected unless the Selection Committee have received a commitment as to the player’s availability.

It is the policy of the Club & therefore the Selection Committee that for all Senior League fixtures the strongest available 1st XI, then 2nd XI, then 3rd XI etc. at the time of selection shall be selected, with consideration given to performance displayed in all competitive cricket, club training sessions and with aim of selecting a balanced side.

All club members shall, if available and selected, be expected to play in whichever side they are selected by the Committee. Refusal to play for a particular side may result in the individual being overlooked for selection and subject to further possible disciplinary action being taken against them by the Club.

In recognition that players may have work commitments on Saturdays, if a player advises that they are only available for a home (or away) game, every effort will be made to accommodate their request, however in line with the Selection Committee's commitment to pick the strongest available XI's, on occasion it may not be possible to select a player who is unavailable for specfic fixtures as a result of work commitments.

Players shall be informed of their selection and the meeting arrangements by their captain and where possible the teams will be posted on the Club Internet Message Board on Thursday following selection.

Any player who believes that they have a grievance with the selection policy or an individual may put this formally to the Club Committee, where each case will be considered on it's merits at the earliest opportunity.
