GORESBROOK'S LATEST CENTURION SETS RECORD (18/7/09)
15 year old Billy Chapman created a piece of history by becoming the youngest ever centurion for Goresbrook’s senior section, whilst playing for the Saturday 4th XI against Old Parkonians. LAWRENCE AND SCOTT REACH 1100 WICKETS (4/7/09)
Goresbrook
Cricket Club’s Lawrence Walsh and Scott Barwick clinched 1,100 wickets on
Saturday, being the first to achieve the landmark in the Club’s history. Leg
spinner Walsh who has made a record 950 appearances for the club continues to
turn out for Goresbrook’s first eleven and has been in excellent form with
both bat and ball during the current campaign. Seamer
Scott Barwick currently skippers the second eleven but his appearances over the
last five seasons have been severely curtailed owing to regular surgery on a leg
injury. Barwick has, however, been able to dedicate time to managing
Goresbook’s Under 13 colts side. The
two are great friends and were delighted to achieve the feat after recent banter
as to who would be first past the post with Walsh pipping his colleague by a
short head !
Chairman
Dean Barwick commented that he was “..delighted for the two veteran
campaigners. Lawrence and Scott have remained faithful to our club when either
could have moved on at an early age. The camaraderie they enjoy with their
team-mates has no doubt maintained their enthusiasm. Their feat is likely to be
a target for many years to come but with some of the talented youngsters coming
through the colts’ section there will, no doubt, be future attempts on the
record”.

U15 TOP THE HAVERING LEAGUE (26/8/08)
Goresbrook's U15 side's recent defeat over table topping Hornchurch meant each side finished the season with the same points tally.
