All-rounder follows Phil Coleman as double winner of the award

20 year old left arm spinning all-rounder Shane Barwick was awarded the Dennis Tebbit Memorial Trophy as Mid-Essex League Young Player of the Year by the league panel umpires for the second successive season.

Barwick backed up his 2016 statistics of 463 runs at 33 and 27 wickets at 20 with a stellar 2017 season featuring a career best 154* against Rayleigh on his way to 567 runs at 35 and with the ball he took two 5 wicket hauls amongst his 38 wickets at just 12 a piece. He also took 10 catches in the field, including one of the best ever seen at the club against Rettendon and generally kicked on after his breakthrough year in the Premier division in 2016.

Barwick remains eligible for the award in 2018 and will be gunning for an unprecedented hat-trick.
