Netting on the square

It's good to see so many people taking advantage of the roll-on net to practise on the square, however please note the following:

  • Thursday evening is Colts training night on the main pitch. No senior players will be allowed to net or train on Thursday evenings, however you are always welcome to come along to help train the junior teams.
  • Please do not use the roll-on net when it is damp or wet underfoot. In the long term this will damage the square and we have invested a significant amount of time and money to improve the quality of the playing surfaces at the club.
  • Senior players are welcome to use the roll on at all other times, however please note that the groundsman does his midweek prep on Tuesdays (weather permitting) before usually doing final cut/mark on Sat am, so take care to use the net strip marked up, or if no marking, a used strip rather than a fresh one.
  • Please have respect for the clubs equipment, i.e. do not use the blue match stumps when netting, take care of the roll-on net & put away in the net bay after use and do not use the covers as an improvised ball-stop. When funds allow we will invest in some ball-stop netting.
  • If you are netting at the club from Tuesday onwards, rain is forecast before the weekend and the covers are not on, feel free to cover one of the prepared strips (or ask advice via Whatsapp) before you leave.
  • Danny Gillham will be conducting some refresher sessions on using the covers over the next few weeks & we now have side-sheets and bowlers run-up covers which can be deployed on match day or in the event of very heavy rain being forecast late in the week.
